The US State Department said yesterday, Tuesday, that the Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, will travel to the Gulf this week to promote peace efforts in the country, as reported by the Arab World News Agency.
The State Department added in a statement that Lenderking “will meet with the Yemeni, Saudi, Omani, Emirati and other international partners to discuss the necessary steps to achieve a permanent ceasefire and launch a comprehensive political process led by the United States.”
The statement indicated that the US envoy will confirm during his visit that “there is an opportunity for the Yemenis to end the conflict in their country and move towards peace, and that the outbreak of a wider regional conflict risks undermining peace in Yemen.”
