This morning, the Director of the Office of the United Nations Envoy to Yemen, Edward Jackson, met with the President of the Abyan Youth Forum for Development and Peace, and the President of the Preparatory Committee for the First Youth Conference Abyan, Mr. Ali. Muhammad Al-Darb.
During the meeting, the role of Abyan Governorate and its place in the peace process in Yemen were discussed.
The Director of the Office of the UN Envoy pointed to the improvement witnessed in Abyan in various areas, including the alleviation of suffering, freedom of expression and political participation of parties, organizations and community formations, in addition to many things that characterize the governor.
For his part, the head of the Abyan Youth Forum for Development and Peace emphasized that Abyan County is unique in political participation and the active role of youth in establishing peace, which improves the status and role of the county in national affairs and also in the peace process
Showing the need to expand the role of the United Nations in the development process in the county, and to alleviate the suffering of its people in many economic and developmental aspects.
Mr. Edward Jackson also referred to the efforts of the United Nations to strengthen the peace process and support it to move from dependence on aid to activating the economy and promoting development.
