Hayel Saeed Anam & Co. Group, in partnership with packaging manufacturer Tetra Pak, initiated the School Milk Initiative in Yemen, which was announced in May 2023 at a joint workshop on food safety hosted by Hayel Saeed Anam & Co. As part of the initiative, Hayel Saeed Anam & Co. Group will produce Al Hana sterilized milk in its local facilities, fortified with micronutrients and vitamins based on local nutrient deficiency data, while Tetra Pak will supply Tetra Brik Aseptic® 125 packs, ensuring. that the product remains fresh for up to 12 months, thus increasing the shelf life. For its part, the Human Development Program of Hayel Saeed Anam & Co. The program will also coordinate with schools on storage and security needs, food, engaging communities through awareness campaigns and overseeing project monitoring and evaluation.
As part of the initiative, schools will be made aware of the importance of recycling through publications prepared within the campaign. Children will also be made aware of the impact of waste on the environment and how waste can be sustainably managed.
The initiative includes the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) conducting an impact evaluation study to understand the impact of the initiative on educational and health outcomes for children.
It is worth noting that the partnership between Hayel Saeed Anam & Partners Group and Tetra Pak extends for more than 20 years in social commitment of both companies to improving the livelihoods of Yemeni communities. This initiative will be Tetra Pak’s first school milk initiative in Yemen.
